Dental Examinations

We recommend regular examinations to help prevent general problems and maintain good general and dental health. A regular dental check up includes an examination of the teeth, existing dental work, gums for disease, bone loss and recession and a soft tissue heath check including the tongue, internal and external tissues around the mouth and neck. This is carried out, where necessary with the aid of X-rays. Here we use digital X-ray equipment for instant images. The dentist will explain any treatment necessary and agree a treatment plan and costs. Not all our treatment options are available on NHS, but all services are available to everyone.

Hygienist Appointments

All patients at the practice are able to book Hygienist appointments. These appointments are booked every half hour, allowing sufficient time for your treatment. Your Hygienist will discuss booking future appointments based on a clinical assessment. However, all patients are welcome to book appointments as they wish, as these appointments do have cosmetic benefits to those wishing to have stains etc removed. Hygienist appointments are all charged at £53.00. Please note Denplan insurance will cover the cost of one hygienist appointment a year. New patients may be asked to secure their first appointments with payment at the time of booking.

Fillings & Root Canal Fillings

Here we use a variety of high quality filling materials. In some circumstances the options are limited, depending on the size and location of the treatment required. The dentist will discuss your treatment options and advise you of the most appropriate material to meet your clinical needs. In some cases a tooth dies and it is necessary to fill the tooths root canals. This treatment will be explained to you by your dentist and can involve more than one appointment. Not all fillings are available on the NHS, so please discuss any options before your treatment if you have any cosmetic preferences.

Crowns, Bridges & Veneers

A Crown is prepared in our lab and is a bespoke covering for the whole tooth when fillings are no longer possible. They provide great strength and are available in various materials such a porcelain, gold, and silver. The Dentist will discuss your crown options based on many factors including function, location and cosmetics. Not all finishes are available on the NHS and not all finishes are possible in some circumstances. A Bridge replaces missing teeth by suspending a false tooth/teeth in-between your natural teeth. There are various designs and finishes and again the dentist will discuss your options. Not all bridges are available on the NHS. Veneers are coverings adhered to the front of the tooth surface. They can change the appearance of a tooth’s shape, angulation and colouring giving a variety of cosmetic options. They are sometimes used for clinical reasons on front teeth when fillings are no longer an option. Veneers are available privately and can be discussed with your dentist.

Implants

Dental implants look, feel and function like natural teeth. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that serves as the replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. Your bone bonds to the implant and that becomes the anchor for replacement teeth. If you have missing teeth, wear dentures or have to avoid eating certain foods, dental implant treatment can transform your everyday life. Dentures

We are able to offer many different denture designs in a variety of materials to help meet your needs. Making dentures to fit that are functional, comfortable and cosmetically pleasing is not always easy. We will discuss all your options and over a series of appointments will work with our lab to make your dentures in a timely manner. Your options will be explained at your initial examination appointment, where your treatment plan is agreed. Dentures can be made to be very thin (Velaplast dentures) have a minimal surface covering (Skeleton chrome dentures) and in some cases can be made for an immediate fit following tooth extraction. Not all options are available on the NHS. Broken dentures can be sent to our lab for repair (please enquire at reception)

Cosmetic Dentistry

We offer a variety of advanced cosmetic dental procedures including; Hygienist appointments, Implants, Bridges, Veneers and Whitening. Not all treatments are suitable for everyone and so we would advise patients to make an appointment for assessment, discussion and costing with the dentist. We also welcome referrals from other dental practices for treatments such as Implants. Ask at reception for further information. Examples of treatment can be found in the Gallery section.

Referrals

We regularly assess all patients for Orthodontic treatment and will make referrals to meet your needs. Procedures requiring specialist treatments such as impacted wisdom tooth removal, nervous and anxious patients requiring treatments may also be referred. Please discuss this with your dentist. Broken dentures can be sent away for repair, for immediate repairs ask at reception for further details.
